2022 Environmental Grant Award - Franklin Township A Recipient

Great News!

We are happy to announce, due to Greg Sachs fabulous work that Franklin Township and the Franklin Township Parks, Rec and Open Space Board have been awarded grant funding to complete tree plantings at 3 locations within Crossan Park and Franklin Preserve compliments of the E. Kneale Dockstader Foundation.

The goals with these plantings are:

  • to connect fragmented forest and create a larger interior forest which many species of native wildlife require for survival

  • to help filter and mitigate storm runoff (all three areas are located within 1,000 feet of the White Clay Creek)

  • to help combat climate change

  • to increase plant and animal biodiversity

  • to serve as inspiration and education to the community on reforestation techniques

This planting will include roughly 550-600 native trees and will take place this Fall 2022 over two days. Exact date to be determined. Please keep this on your radar as we will be asking for a lot of volunteer support for this project. We can’t do it without you!
