Paving of Old School House Road
Subject: 2023 Franklin Township Road Program
Old School House Road Update - July 7, 2023
Franklin Township has contracted with Long’s Asphalt to complete the Township’s 2023 Road Program. We are providing this notice as an update to progress of the work completed to date, and also the schedule for the final paving. The Road Reconstruction, embankment grading and surface milling has been completed. The final paving will be completed next week. The schedule is outlined below.
Monday 7/10 – Final grading of areas that were reconstructed.
Tuesday 7/11 – Complete Base Repair of designated areas and place binder course on reconstructed areas. We will be completing repairs on both ends of Old School House Road access to and from properties could be delayed.
Wednesday 7/12 – Place final wearing course on Roadway starting at Wickerton Road and Paving towards Pheasant Hill Lane. (We will finish the day just South of Pheasant Hill Lane. Residents should plan on using the Chesterville Road access for most of the day unless the paving operation has passed your residence.) The final wearing course will be completed in 1 pass.
Thursday 7/13 – Place final wearing course on Roadway between Pheasant Hill Lane and Chesterville Road. (Residents should plan on using the Wickerton Road access point for the day. Residents at the southern end of Old School House Road access will be determined by the location of the paving operation.
The final wearing course will be completed in 1 pass.
Work hours will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. During the duration of the work the road will be closed to through traffic. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we complete the road improvements.
It is important that you allow extra time into your daily schedules. You will be inconvenienced while we improve Old School House Road, and we are sorry. Residents should plan on leaving their residence before the paving process starts if they must go out or plan on staying home for the day. Work hours will start at approximately 7:00 AM and end at approximately 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Using a single pass paver removes the cold joint (center seam) in the road, thus improving the longevity of the road. Please look for direction from the flagger on duty before proceeding.

Our Contracted needs to adjust the paving schedule for Old School House Road. They pushed the paving 1 day to give them time to Fine Grade.

Weather Delay
The Township just heard from Long's Paving. Due to the rains last night, work has been postponed and will be pushed one day back. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Once we receive an updated schedule, we will be sure to post it here and on our social media pages immediately.
Road Program Schedule Update - June 26, 2023
Ways Run and Johnson Lane
Franklin Township has contracted with Long’s Asphalt to complete the milling and paving for the Township’s Road Program. The work on the roads were delayed one day due to inclement weather. The Surface Milling of the roadway will be completed today, 6/26/23. The leveling course to super-elevate a section of Ways Run Road between 7 Ways Run Road and 11 Ways Run Road will take place on Tuesday 6/27/23 late morning or early afternoon. During this process there will be one lane of traffic and residents can expect some delays in this area. The final surface course will be installed on Wednesday, 6/28/23. The Township has requested the Roads to be paved in one pass. Our paver can pave roads up to 22’ wide in one pass, most Townships prefer 1 pass paving where applicable because it eliminates the center seam on the road (center seams tend to open up over time causing the road to deteriorate quicker) and provides a better finish product. Long’s Asphalt will start paving in the Cul-de-sac at 7:00 am on 6/28/23. Once we exit the cull-de-sac vehicles will not be able to get around the paving operation. During the paving process the residents will not be able to access their driveways or be able to drive on the roads. Residents should plan on leaving their residence before the paving process starts if they must go out, or plan on staying home for the day. Once more, the paving will take place on 6/28/23. Hours of operation are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be no parking on the roads during working hours. Also, the work schedule could be affected by inclement weather so the schedule could fluctuate a day or two. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we complete the road improvements.
