Overview

White Clay Creek National Wild and Scenic Rivers Program, along with Franklin, London Britain, London Grove, and New Garden Townships, are sponsoring Community Spaces, Natural Places. Residents* can learn how to create beautiful home and community landscapes that help protect drinking water and attract butterflies, birds, and other wildlife. Presentations will be given by local horticulture and watershed experts, informative take-home resource materials will be distributed, and attendees will be eligible to win gift certificates for native plants. ALL FOR FREE. Free field training events to learn about invasive plant identification and control will also be offered.

Speakers and trainers at these events include staff from the Brandywine Conservancy, Stroud Water Research Center, and White Clay Creek State Park, as well as a local landscape designer.

Funding is provided by the E Kneale Dockstader Foundation and the National Park Service.

*Residents of communities within the White Clay Watershed are the primary target audience. Others residing outside the White Clay Watershed may attend on a space available basis. The Pennsylvania portion of the White Clay Watershed is all the land area that eventually drains into the East, Middle & West Branches of the White Clay Creek and its smaller Pennsylvania tributaries (including Broad Run and Trout Run). Area and detail maps of the White Clay Creek Watershed are available on the White Clay Watershed Association's web site.
