Several roadways, or segments of roadways, are scheduled to receive blacktop overlays in 2008:
- Carriage Run Drive
- Hess Mill Road (segments of)
- Highland Drive
- Hill Crest Drive
- Kimbelot Lane (segments of)
- Liberti Lane
- Old School House Road (a segment of)
Along with new blacktop, "base" repair will be made where needed. If you live on one of the above noted roadways, what you'll likely see first is a large grinding machine moving along and, in certain places that have been marked, cutting out 3 or so inches of the existing roadway surface. New "base type" blacktop will then be placed in those areas that have been cut out. After that, the whole roadway, or segment that's to be done in 2008, will receive an inch and a half or so of fresh overlay.
Most of the 2008 paving work is scheduled for various neighborhood streets. Residents in affected neighborhoods should receive notices from Dan Malloy Paving indicating when the work is to occur and reminding residents of the need to remove vehicles, etc., from the roadway. While roadways are not to be "closed," there will likely be delays.
For your planning purposes, please see
2008 Road Program: Sequence of Construction
for the proposed schedule. The projected information for Hess Mill Road and
Old School House Road is listed below:
- May 2023
Hess Mill Road - Includes the area starting at the limit of the recently paved area (west of the intersection with SR841) to the New London Township Line. Roadway to be overlayed (approximately 1 ½” thick), including repair of failed base areas (approximately 4” thick). Re-grading of drainage swales (including lining the swale with stone, as needed) will take place along the roadway.
- June 3
Old School House Road (Chesterville Road side) - Approximately 525 linear feet of roadway (from intersection with SR 841) to be overlayed (approximately 1 ½” thick), including repair of failed base pavement areas (approximately 4” thick).
In addition to paving, various improvements to roadside drainage infrastructure will also be occurring at non-specified times throughout the Township. This stormwater work includes occasionally replacing or adding piping that runs under the roadway, as well as improving roadside drainage. A final piece of this effort to manage stormwater is the repair and / or replacement of numerous inlet boxes.
If there are any questions as the 2008 paving progresses, please call the Township office at 610-255-5212.
