Road Program Update
InnConn, the road paving contractor, is working on swales and inlet repairs
throughout the township. They are also excavating and widening Gypsy Hill Road.
This work, along with the installation of the pipe underdrain on Walker Road,
is expected to be completed by June 14.
InnConn has tentative plans to perform
base repair work on the following roadways from
June 1523, starting with Church Hill Road and ending with Johnson Lane:
-
Church Hill Road - From the existing pavement seam approximately 500 feet west
of the Church Hill Road Bridge to the existing pavement seam near the
intersection of Creek Road
-
Pennbrook Drive - Entire length
-
Gypsy Hill Road - Entire length
-
Walker Road - From Appleton Road to Johnson Lane
-
Johnson Lane - Entire length
Once base repair work is completed they will go back
through to do the
overlay work, starting with Johnson Lane and ending with
Church Hill Road.
Reminder: Residents in affected areas should clear roadways to be paved. This includes
trimming back trees and shrubs overhanging roadways, as well as removing obstacles, such
as vehicles, trailers, etc.
(When trimming vegetation, there should be at least a 15-foot vertical clearance
from the roadway and at least 2 feet of clearance from the edge of the pavement.)
Please do not hesitate to call us with questions.
Road Work Scheduled to Begin on June 6
Notice to Proceed for the 2011 Franklin Township Road Maintenance program was issued on
May 25, 2011 with an effective date of May 26, 2011. The contract is for sixty (60)
calendar days and therefore all work must be completed by July 25, 2011.
Representatives from McCormick Taylor are in the process of completing all base repair
and drainage repair markouts in the field.
The contractor is scheduled to mobilize on Monday, June 6, 2011. Work will begin with
the drainage repair/swale construction and then continue with the paving operations.
Notifications will be provided to residents who live on the effected roadways
approximately one week prior to the start of work.
An outline of the scheduled work to be completed will be posted to the website shortly.
Road Work Awarded to Innovative Construction Services (InnConn)
At the April 20, 2011 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board voted to award
the contract for this year's road work to Innovative Construction Services (InnConn).
Residents affected by planned road paving will be receiving a notice prior
to the start of construction. Updates regarding the paving schedule will be
posted here as they become available.
The following roads, or sections of roads, are scheduled to be included
in the 2011 Franklin Road Paving Program.
-
Church Hill Road - From the existing pavement seam approximately 500 feet west
of the Church Hill Road Bridge to the existing pavement seam near the
intersection of Creek Road
-
Gypsy Hill Road - Entire length, with widening in some areas
-
Johnson Lane - Entire length
-
Pennbrook Drive - Entire length
-
Walker Road - From Appleton Road to Johnson Lane
Along with new blacktop, "base" repair will be made where needed.
If you live on one of the above noted roadways, what you'll likely
see first is a large grinding machine moving along and, in certain places
that have been marked, cutting out 3 or so inches of the existing roadway
surface. New "base type" blacktop will then be placed in those areas that
have been cut out. After that, the whole roadway, or segment that's to be
done in 2011, will receive an overlay of inch and a half or so of
fresh paving material.
Residents in affected areas should clear roadways to be paved. This
includes trimming back trees and shrubs overhanging
roadways, as well as removing obstacles, such as vehicles, trailers, etc.
Also, please note that while roadways are not to be "closed," there will
likely be delays.

In addition to paving, various improvements to roadside drainage infrastructure
will also be occurring at non-specified times throughout the Township. This
stormwater work includes occasionally replacing or adding piping that runs
under the roadway, as well as improving roadside drainage. A final piece of
this effort to manage stormwater is the repair and/or replacement of inlet boxes.
If there are any questions as the 2011 paving progresses, please call the
Township office at 610-255-5212.
